Dinner at Taipei's Night Markets
Taipei is known for the delicious delicacies served up at its numerous night markets, so these were obviously on our to-do list during our Chinese New Year holiday there. We ended up going to two different ones, on different nights of course.
First, we went to the Raohe Street Night Market because it seemed like it was within walking distance from our hostel. And, walk there we did, though it was much further than we expected, and we took a taxi on the way back.
As far as the food goes, I think this market was the best. It was big, but not too big to be overwhelming. One stall had fried pork and cabbage buns that were absolutely amazing. There was even a presumably American guy selling funnel cakes, deep-fried bananas and deep-fried Oreos!

The second night market we went to was the famous Shilin Night Market, which is the oldest in Taipei. It was absolutely huge and also very crowded. Although there was certainly more to this market, including carnival-style shooting games and cheap souvenirs, it was almost too big to manage.
Plus, the food selection was similar to other night markets. The highlights for me were the creamy banana smoothie and the candied strawberries on a stick, though I could've had them at any night market. The corn dog was also fun to eat, though the batter didn't seem to include any cornmeal.
