Kwan Kee Claypot Rice
Claypot rice is a traditional Hong Kong food that I've not eaten very often. I know I've had it once at an outdoor restaurant in Temple Street, but that was several years ago.
Recently, we went to Kwan Kee Claypot Rice in Sai Ying Pun with a few friends. Although it's a pretty well-known restaurant, it's very casual and there were probably no more than 10 tables inside. Luckily, they did have a bilingual menu in English and Chinese.
We ordered a plate of stir-fried broccoli in garlic and a claypot with beef satay and vermicelli to share, as it took one hour to prepare our rice dishes. We each ordered our own claypot rice, though the portions were probably too much for one person.
I chose the beef and egg claypot rice, which was delicious. David got plain beef, which came with a few pieces of choi sum on top. We also got to try a bit of Chinese sausage from a friend's claypot, which was interesting: quite rich and sweeter than expected.
