Les Sandwiches au Paris

I have fond memories of eating a croque monsieur sandwich, in a cosy cafe out of the chilly summer rain, from the first time I went to Paris. This time, I opted for a croque madame (avec egg) on our first evening there. It was cheesy and delicious, though the bread was slightly too toasted and therefore difficult to cut.

On a rainy day we planned to explore the eastern part of central Paris, visiting some shops, markets and the Picasso museum. I also wanted to go to a popular falafel restaurant called L'As du Fallafel in the nearby Jewish quarter.

Sadly, it was closed, but in fact there were several similar places along the same street. However, though the sandwich was good, it wasn't exactly tourist worthy. The smoky eggplant was actually the best part, not the falafel.
