Hello Kitty Dim Sum

My mom really likes Hello Kitty, or at least thinks I really like her. Previously, she has given me a variety of themed items including pajamas, pencils, T-shirts, slippers, coloring books, etc. Therefore, it seemed very appropriate for us to try Hello Kitty Chinese Cuisine in Jordan.

Most reviews online emphasized that Hello Kitty Chinese Cuisine is certainly not Hong Kong's finest or most delicious dim sum restaurant, and I would agree. The number of dim sum dishes was quite limited, though there were other noodle and rice selections.

We ordered 4 dishes to share between 2 people: steamed custard buns (above), steamed shrimp dumplings (below), shrimp spring rolls and beef meatballs with tofu skin. The 3 savory items were all quite tasty, though no better than any other (and cheaper) dim sum restaurant. However, the custard buns, which I normally love, were rather disappointing because the filling was too solidified and not sweet enough.

As you can see, not only the food was made in Hello Kitty's image. The lamps, dishes, windows, soap dispensers and even the paper at the bottom of the steamer basket were all in accordance with the restaurant theme. And for true fans, there is a Hello Kitty gift shop just next door!
