Le Bouillon Chartier

Before we went to Paris, David's parents encouraged us to eat at Le Bouillon Chartier, although their recommendation of the food as "hit and miss" was not too convincing. However, we decided to give it a try, and I am very glad we did.

In fact, we ate at the restaurant only on our second attempt, as we arrived one evening just before 8:00 pm and the line was already quite long. The next time we got there before 7:00 and didn't need to wait at all.

Interestingly, we were seated directly next to other patrons at the same table (Hong Kong style), presumably because the restaurant is so popular and seats are in high demand.

David's parents had warned us that steaks in France are generally less cooked than in England. Thus, David ordered his well done. I, however, opted for medium, and the result might have been considered more medium rare, which was just perfect.

We both chose the steaks in pepper sauce, which were accompanied by fries, and there was mustard on the table but sadly no ketchup. We also ordered cheap but delicious house white wine, and our meal came with tasty French bread as well.
