Cheese Fondue at Chesa

Our last wedding gift card for The Peninsula wasn't for a specific experience or service. So, we decided to use it at Chesa, the hotel's Swiss restaurant, though I was quite surprised to find such a place in a (British colonial) hotel in Hong Kong.

Of course, the main reason I wanted to try Chesa was because they serve fondue, and there are few things better than melted cheese. However, the unique European decor and very attentive staff were a nice bonus.

For something a bit different, we chose the fondue with macaroni and potatoes instead of bread. Actually, it also came with baguette pieces, which were not mentioned on the menu but certainly appreciated.

Our other main course was pork sausage, served with onion gravy, hash browns with bacon, asparagus, carrots and purple cauliflower. Although I'm not a huge meat eater, the sausage was very tasty, as were the potatoes.

Unfortunately, I didn't realize that there were dessert (chocolate!) fondue options until after we ordered, so we were too full for dessert. But we got a small complimentary tray of petit fours, which included chewy gingerbread and chocolate truffles. Yum!
