Craftsteak Unlimited
It's not surprising that I am on the email list of several food-related organizations in Hong Kong. One of these is Dining Concepts, a group that runs quite a few restaurants including Craftsteak. The latter has a Wednesday evening special of one starter plus unlimited steak from the buffet and table sides for HK $368 (plus service).
When we went a couple of weeks ago, everyone chose the blue cheese and bacon wedge salad as a starter. We all ordered the house Cherry Coke cocktail, too. Made with cherry liqueur, it was tasty though not overly strong.
The steak buffet featured five types of meat: hangar steak, barbecue brisket, tenderloin, striploin and ribeye. There were also a variety of sauces, but I just had bearnaise. I liked the rich tenderloin the best. It was wonderfully cooked and of course tender.
We got three side dishes, which were creamed spinach, fries and macaroni and cheese. The mac was incredibly cheesy and delicious, and the others weren't bad either. There were also warm rolls with a garlic spread.
Interestingly, I went with people who eat meat more frequently than I do, however I was the one who enjoyed the experience the most. The one drawback was that the steak buffet ran out quickly and wasn't replenished in the most timely manner.
