Meals Aboard Our Maya Cruise

The first part of our recent trip to Vietnam was a 3-day, 2-night cruise on Halong Bay. We had originally booked the Flamingo cruise organized by our hotel in Hanoi, but upon arrival we were upgraded to the Maya cruise.

Although the weather was a bit cooler and cloudier than we had hoped, the cruise was still great. The scenery was magnificent and the food was delicious, if overly plentiful. There were several dishes at every lunch and dinner; once I had to refuse the main course because I was so full and I probably should have more often!

The food itself was a mixture of Asian and Western flavors, with delicious Vietnamese salads and spring rolls as appetizers. Thankfully, we remembered to tell the staff that David doesn't eat seafood because the meals included (at some point) shrimp, clams, crab and fish. It was all very good, though perhaps more seafood than I wanted as well!

Along with the other guests on the cruise, we were also impressed by the presentation of the food. Every meal included some type of fruit or vegetable food art, which was almost too pretty to eat!
