Ceylon Tea Tasting
Our second destination in Sri Lanka was Nuwara Eliya in the cooler, mountainous hill country for hiking and tea plantations. In fact, we passed countless tea fields on the curvy roads but we only visited one tea factory.
On our last day in the country, we went to the Damro Labookellie factory, where we saw the different stages of tea processing. The guide showed us how the tea leaves were dried, ground and so on.
After the short tour, we received a free cup of BOP (broken orange pekoe) tea, which I drank plain due to an upset stomach. However, it was very strong (and delicious) and also would have been nice with milk. Sadly, we didn't feel well enough to order the popular chocolate cake either.
