Lunch at the Double R Diner

After camping in Olympic National Park, we ventured east of Seattle to the little town of North Bend, one of the filming locations for the TV show "Twin Peaks." Our first stop was lunch at Twede's Cafe, also known as the Double R Diner.

Beforehand, David was worried because the online reviews weren't great. And, it's true that the food prices were a bit high for a diner. The restaurant also seemed to be understaffed.

However, my tuna melt was delicious, as were the bottomless fries (!) though I couldn't even finish the original serving. My caramel milkshake was okay; it could've had more caramel flavor and real whipped cream, but I was very pleased to see it had sprinkles.

Everyone but me ordered pie for dessert, and of course David tried the famous cherry flavor, along with his "damn fine cup of coffee." The slices of pie were very generous, and the thick crust was covered in sugar granules for a nice crunch.

After lunch we went to nearby Snoqualmie Falls, another "Twin Peaks" filming location. Pro tip: The gift shop has quite a lot of Twin Peaks souvenirs, too!
