Pasta-Making Dinner Party

Last month we went to a pasta-making dinner party at M Cuisine in an old industrial building in Wong Chuk Hang. Together, our group of friends made three types of pasta and prepared ingredients for the different sauces, which we then got to try out.

The party started with a few canapes and drinks (free flow wine and beer). Next the chef (who was Israeli, not Italian) showed us how to prepare the pasta dough using a pasta machine, and then shape it into linguine, tortellini and ravioli. It was fun, though I probably won't be buying such a machine to use at home.

While we were making all the pastas, the staff prepared 3 different sauces: pesto, creamy porcini mushroom and roasted tomato with veggies. Sadly we weren't very involved this part--I would love to learn how to make expert creamy mushroom sauce.

Once everything was ready, we sat down to a three-course pasta meal including pesto linguine, chicken ravioli with mushroom sauce and cheese tortellini with tomatoes. For dessert, there was creamy panna cotta with poached pears. All the food was delicious, which was good since it cost almost HK$1,000 per person!
