Anniversary staycation at The Peninsula

Mini chocolates arranged in a flower shape on a marble slab

We've eaten at The Peninsula in Hong Kong a few times over the years, including afternoon tea, fancy French cuisine and cheese fondue. For our anniversary, we decided to stay overnight for a mini staycation.

Normally, the rooms at The Peninsula are very expensive. We booked the "Stay in Style" staycation offer which was HK$2,980 per night (US$385), including breakfast, a HK$1,000 dining credit and a HK$300 spa voucher per guest. Certainly not cheap, but actually cheaper than regular rooms on their own!

Because it was our anniversary, we were upgraded from the Deluxe Room to the Deluxe Business Room. We also got a free mini dessert and a card for our special day.

Unfortunately, we waited too late to make a restaurant reservation. So we used our dining credit for room service instead. It was very fancy, just like in the movies: the waiter brought all the food into the room on a cart and set it up on the table for us.

The next morning, we had breakfast in The Lobby restaurant. The set menu was served in courses and included a ton of food. Sadly, we couldn't finish all the pastries, but we did bring home the jam and honey jars we opened.
